We are a grassroots initiative built through the dedication, compassion, and collective response of our community. We support those affected by poverty, homelessness, and other housing related instability and hardships. Our organization was founded on the belief that sustainable change begins with accessible support and resources, education, and opportunity.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our mission is to help individuals and families facing homelessness, housing instability, and financial hardship find a path toward safe, stable housing and a better future. We believe everyone deserves the opportunity to live with dignity, security, and hope.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We do this by providing compassionate case management, housing referral assistance, and practical support that meets people where they are. Our goal is to equip those we serve with the knowledge, resources, and confidence they need to overcome challenges and build lasting stability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are committed to creating a supportive environment where individuals and families can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Learn the responsibilities and skills needed to obtain and maintain stable, permanent housing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Access housing resources and referrals that fit their unique needs and circumstances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Build life skills, financial knowledge, and budgeting habits that promote long-term success.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Set meaningful goals and work toward greater independence and self-sufficiency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
  • Connect with community resources that strengthen their overall well-being and quality of life.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    The organization began with a simple but powerful idea from a concerned advocate and local small business owner: the creation of a \u201cHope Chest\u201d\u2014a secure, community-based drop-off location for food and cold-weather supplies.

    Through the power of social media and community engagement, overwhelming support quickly transformed this idea into a broader vision\u2014laying the foundation for a full-scale outreach and
    support center.<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    A Path Forward<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

    Seeing that many people in the community were struggling to meet the basic need for housing, businessman and contractor Frank Spaid stepped in by opening his warehouse on Susquehanna Avenue. Working with Berwick Council, the Mayor, and established agencies such as AGAPE and The Gate House, the vision to create Berwick\u2019s first Code Blue shelter became a reality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    Collaborative Efforts Support a Greater Vision<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    With the support of AGAPE, The Gate House, Berwick Borough\/Council, and Frank Spaid (Code Blue, now BATS) addressed the concern of local encampments. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
